Company History

In 1995 the subsidiary of the City of Düsseldorf and Messe Düsseldorf took up business activities under the name CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf GmbH, having been entrusted with the management of the CCD South, CCD East and the CCD Stadthalle. With a total room capacity of over 7,500 persons, these event locations taken together represent the third largest conference and congress complex in Germany as well as the largest congress centre on the Rhine.

When in 2000 CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf GmbH took on the marketing and management of the
Mitsubishi Electric HALLE, the company was renamed DüsseldorfCongress Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH. As little as one year later, the business extended its room and service portfolio to include the RheinHalle (now renamed Hall 6), the exhibition halls and the Robert Schumann Hall located at museum kunstpalast. In these locations DüsseldorfCongress has been organising events complementing the locations’ respective own core event portfolio.

Since 2005 DüsseldorfCongress has furthermore taken on board the management of Hall 8 located in the exhibition grounds, as well as the adjacent ESPRIT arena. Since the opening in September 2006 of the ISS DOME, a new multi-functional arena in Düsseldorf-Rath, DüsseldorfCongress has also been entrusted with the management of this location.

In spring 2008 DüsseldorfCongress in cooperation with Düsseldorf Marketing & Tourismus GmbH opened the Convention Bureau Düsseldorf.
It is among the foremost goals of this institution to develop further and build up on the City’s status as a conference destination of international renown.

Since January 2009 DüsseldorfCongress markets a further location for special events situated at the Düsseldorf airport: Station Airport, whose name alludes to the airport’s railway station opened in spring 2000.

In March 2011 management responsibility for BURG-WÄCHTER CASTELLO in Düsseldorf-Reisholz was turned over to DüsseldorfCongress, a subsidiary of the City of Düsseldorf and Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. With BURG-WÄCHTER CASTELLO, DüsseldorfCongress adds another multipurpose event location to the lineup. To date, CASTELLO Düsseldorf has proven attractive for sporting events, television shows and corporate events.

With these ten locations totalling a capacity of over 130,000 persons, DüsseldorfCongress is one of the major location providers in Europe. Furthermore the event company also understands itself as a provider of all services in connection with business, sports and music events. A competent team and professional, state-of-the-art technical equipment ensure the successful planning and implementation of all events.
