ICCA Future of Healthcare Meetings 2025: Düsseldorf to Host Leading Global Platform for the Healthcare and Life Sciences Sector

Düsseldorf, 25.09.2025
From 1 to 3 October 2025, the event “ICCA Future of Healthcare Meetings” (FHCM) will take place at the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf. Organised by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the format is one of the leading international platforms dedicated to the future of congresses in the healthcare and life sciences sector. Host of the event is Düsseldorf Convention, which together with ICCA will welcome the global community to CCD. By hosting FHCM, Düsseldorf underscores its role as an international destination for healthcare meetings and is further strengthening this position.
Strategic focus on the healthcare sector
“The hosting of the ‘ICCA Future of Healthcare Meetings’ represents a clear commitment to our strategic focus on the healthcare sector,” says Maria Kofidou, Managing Director of Düsseldorf Congress GmbH. “In Düsseldorf, an excellent healthcare infrastructure, a strong academic landscape and modern congress facilities come together. This combination makes the city particularly attractive for national and international associations.”
“We are pleased to create an international platform in Düsseldorf together with ICCA, where leading experts from the healthcare meetings industry can exchange ideas and further strengthen the city’s position in this field,” adds Jens Ihsen, Managing Director, Visit Düsseldorf and Director Düsseldorf Convention. “Such events contribute to making Düsseldorf visible in the global congress market and provide new impulses for the healthcare hub.”
ICCA CEO Dr. Senthil Gopinath says: “The Future of Healthcare Meetings is a highlight of the industry calendar, and is a key part of our strategy to create events where innovation, collaboration, and knowledge truly come together. Düsseldorf, with its dynamic ecosystem and commitment to global exchange, is the perfect host city for this important dialogue. We at ICCA are thrilled to be in Düsseldorf and to contribute to shaping the future of healthcare meetings worldwide.”
Programme highlights and international perspectives
The “Future of Healthcare Meetings” is a key driver of collaboration and knowledge exchange at the intersection of healthcare and the events industry. Each year, the format contributes to the global discussion on science, technology, and regulation, offering a dynamic platform for knowledge transfer and innovation.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Stephan Martin, Director of the West-German Centre of Diabetes and Health and Chief Physician for Diabetology at the Catholic Hospital Group Düsseldorf, and Dr. David Matusiewicz, Dean of Health & Social Affairs at FOM University. Prof. Matusiewicz will also address the transformative potential of digitalisation for the future of healthcare meetings.
Another highlight is the participation of students from DHBW Ravensburg and Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, who will jointly design a session on the “Next Generation of Business Events Professionals”. They are supported by Michael Roloff (Fresenius University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf) and Prof. Stefan Luppold (DHBW Ravensburg), who contribute their expertise in event innovation and creative thinking.
Also included in the programme is the format “Speed Dating with a Purpose”, which enables short, structured conversations for targeted networking and the exchange of ideas. The social programme also includes guided city tours, a reception at the traditional Uerige Brewery, and a dinner at the K21 Ständehaus, home to the international contemporary art collection of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Düsseldorf as a destination for healthcare conventions
The choice of Düsseldorf as the 2025 host is not only recognition of the existing infrastructure, but also a key step in the strategic positioning of the city as a hub for international healthcare meetings. It also reflects a clear development: more and more associations from the healthcare and life sciences sector are choosing Düsseldorf as their meeting destination. In 2025, CCD already hosted the Gynaecologists’ Congress, the Ophthalmologists’ Congress, the Allergy Days and the German Pharmacists’ Congress. On the Messe Düsseldorf exhibition grounds, RehaCare and Expopharm followed in September, with MEDICA, the world’s leading medical trade fair, scheduled for November. In recent years, associations from rheumatology, plastic surgery and neurorehabilitation have also deliberately chosen Düsseldorf as their host city. It has also been announced that the ADKA Annual Congress – the German Hospital Pharmacists’ Association – will be held in Düsseldorf in 2026.
Infrastructure and compliance
The CCD Convention Center Düsseldorf and the exhibition grounds offer venues and spaces for congresses of all sizes, located in immediate proximity to the airport and embedded in a strong network of clinics, research institutions, and universities.
A particular strength of the CCD lies in its team’s proven expertise in meeting the industry-specific requirements of medical and healthcare-related events. This includes, among other things, aspects of compliance conformity, which play a central role in international congresses. Thanks to this experience and the neutral event setting, Düsseldorf is regarded as a preferred location – especially for international associations whose regulations exclude certain destinations.
