Düsseldorf Congress has been taking sustainability considerations into account in its event and operations management for many years. These include certifications, measures in energy and building management, waste prevention, mobility options, and social and economic aspects of event planning.
The CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf was first certified by Green Globe in 2010 and has been regularly recertified since then. The certification assesses criteria in the areas of environment, social responsibility and economic activity within the respective scope of certification. The current certification status, validity period and exact scope are defined in the valid certificate.
In addition, Düsseldorf Congress follows the guidelines of the “fairpflichtet” Sustainability Code for the event industry. This code provides guidance for responsible action in the event sector and complements the sustainability management of Düsseldorf Congress.

Our checklist contains recommendations for the planning, organisation and implementation of events at the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf — including mobility, catering, communication, energy and waste management.

Training and internal awareness
Employees of Düsseldorf Congress are regularly informed, trained or further educated on various topics relating to sustainability management. The aim is to help them take sustainability considerations into account in their daily work and in their interaction with event organisers.

Düsseldorf Congress bundles the procurement of certain consumables, such as office supplies or drinking water, through fixed suppliers from the region. This allows delivery processes to be planned more effectively and regional suppliers to be considered.

Accessibility
A large proportion of the meeting rooms and event spaces at the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf are designed to be accessible with reduced barriers. Rooms can generally be reached by lift; for individual areas with stairs, suitable solutions are reviewed or provided where needed.

Waste management
Together with partners and service providers, Düsseldorf Congress implements measures for waste prevention, reuse and the separate collection of recyclable materials. Depending on the area, these include reusable systems, digital documents, paper-reduced processes and recycling stations.

Lighting and energy efficiency
Energy-efficient lighting solutions are used in many areas of the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf, including LEDs and other efficient light sources.

Vehicle fleet
Düsseldorf Congress is increasingly using electric and hybrid vehicles in its company vehicle fleet. In addition, Düsseldorf Congress supports climate protection projects via atmosfair in connection with emissions from the company vehicle fleet. Emission reduction measures and financial climate contributions are considered separately.

Logistics and transport
Düsseldorf Congress works with mobility partners such as Rheinbahn to provide event organisers with options for travelling to events by public transport. In addition, wayfinding systems support traffic guidance to the event venues.
We look forward to hearing from you.
